[ SHOWGSD-L ] Re: Sticking my neck out and wondering which way we're HEADING

I think that a dog needs to have length of neck or their shoulders will not be
set on at the correct angle and therefore, they won't be able to move
correctly. Also just love the look of a dog with a long neck.

HEADING

Now here is a thought provoking question.

Neck length - a short neck ruins the appearance of balance in a dog. I realize
that it shouldn't, but I saw a photo just recently and thought, what a
beautiful photo, but too bad this dog has NO neck. If I have a dal or GSD with
lots of bend of stifle, I want a dog that also has neck to go with it - just
for the overal appearance.

And I am not sure about GSDs, but I have noticed in dals that shorter the neck,
the more front heavy appearing the dog. I have also noticed that most of the
short necked dogs tend to have a straight shoulder to go with it...

Heads............. Boys should look like boys and girls should look like girls
- no matter the breed. Secondary sex characteristic are part of the essence of
a breed.
