No, not really, because wheatens have a fair mix of owner handlers in them and
Most of the Water Dog people hire handlers as it is a very handler oriented
breed.
Most of the CA wheaten people still make the trek back east for Montgomery
county (And yes, granted a few said they have given up a few shows last month
to assure they had the finances for Hatboro, Devon and Mont.County).
So I dont think Economics play a MAJOR role in it, it does affect what people
do, but I dont suspect that is the entire answer.

have more Wheatens (244 total entries) than Shepherds. Our nationals is always
held at Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. (On the Hatboro, Devon, Morris and

So the real question, why is a popular breed such as shepherds, being hammered
in entries while the "not so popular breeds" like wheatens, waterdogs and
vizlas numbers are strong for their nationals... and sadly, does anyone really
care???
