Hi, this has been an interesting thread. A "little" touchy at times but
educational and "interesting" nonetheless. Reminds me of the neat
book I just read - it calls the dog in it a - "free thinking dog"!
Personally, I think they all are, especially GSDs. Now, to have
free enterprising thoughts here on what goes on at our shows is

Im back from a weekend of shows and I show a lot of dogs and I use a lot of
photographers. Some are great, some are not. Some do wonderful work, some
will do in a pinch. After reading all those emails and about a "sitting
fee"... you have to realize, you can simply NOT BUY THE PHOTOGRAPH
and move on. (What do you mean - why not?
Why not just refuse pics by that Photog?)
I liken it to using a handler, some handler will have a "low" board but
charge you for everything.. brushing, baths, etc. Some handlers charge a
flat flee that includes everything, no additonal charges, not that is
right/wrong or indiferent, its just how they choose to do business. And that
you havent any control over. (Oh yes you do if you are the Exhibitor .
Pick and choose your Handler.)
A few years back, I had a Kerry blue Terrier I was showing. The dog NEVER
had a good photo. The best photo he took was with my cameraphone on the
table. I was billed to the tune of 176 for all of his win photos and not a
single one was publishable... so I paid the photographers the money. Then I
took all of the 8x10's and gave back to them and said, "I know you can do
better work than this and if you cannot get a decent photo thats worth
printing, then I dont want it!"
(Ah, now this one is really interesting. So what happened?
Have you discontiued using that Photog or has the work improved?
