[ SHOWGSD-L ] Qualifications doesn't make you fit

I do remember that. My aunt and I both went. We were sitting in the bar trading
tricks when she said; "That is an amazing move. Where did you learn that?"

I told her that she had taught it to me 40 years ago.

I just performed in a little theatre in upstate Michigan. For the first time my
aunt performed with me. She is 101, and still teaching me new tricks. For an
old dog, that is magic.

I love to tell the story of how good of a magician Evan is.

He attended a magicians convention in Reno years ago and decided that he had
seen enough before it was over, so he gave me his badge and assigned seat so I
could go. When I arrived and found my seat, the other people at the table
looked quizzically at me and then started introducing themselves. I introduced
myself as Evan Ginsburg. One finally spoke up and said I was not Evan and did
not look anything like him, to which I replied, “See I told you I was a good
magician.”

They got quite a laugh out of it.

Evan is a magician. That should be useful. I, on the other hand, am no longer a
GSDCA member.

Being old gives you time to do a lot. And none of it makes me fit for the
German Shepherd Dog Club of America.

Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think you need to be the head of some big
corporation or serve on some fancy board to be president of our club, now those
aren't bad things to be ,but to suggest that these things are necessary to run
the club sends the wrong message! Dave Fritsche, pastor, father, author, former
police officer ( among other things ) is more than capable of being President
of the GSDCA . Evan Ginsburg, high school teacher, lawyer, pro-temp judge also
capable of being president of this club. Ruth Schubler, born in Germany has a
background in dog breeding, training, health, and education that is perhaps
second to none also capable of being the president of this club. The list is
endless but I wanted to mention those three. The thought that our president
needs to be highly ranked in the corporate world is a dangerous fallacy ! The
president needs to be a facilitator, a communicator, a person with vision, with
the understanding that we can ALL have a say, we can ALL have a roll in growing
and improving our club and keeping this dog of ours protected and strengthened
for generations to come!... This is NOT a political post because the names I
mentioned are NOT running for anything! Ed Hill
