Kathy,
This could be another chapter in the GSD Memories book! Does anyone know how
the book is coming along? Hopefully lots of good stories are pouring in!

The most destructive puppy I ever heard of was a GSD puppy that belonged to
my attorney, which BTW, I helped her find, so "this" is all my fault :
Sampson was a baby and was at home in his crate while all were at work.
Sandy and her husband had bought and were in the process of refinishing an old
farm house in a rather upscale area. The workmen had just refinished the
first floor hardwood floors (polyurethane I guess) and left for the day. The
stuff on the floors was still tacky when Sampson got out, ran THROUGH the house
over the sticky floors and went upstairs and tore around on the (real)
Oriental carpets. Floors and carpets ruined, although the floors COULD be
refinished. Sampson wasn't finished; he then proceeded to chew the knobs off an
antique wine cabinet and chewed one each (!!!) of the pairs of (expensive!)
boots/shoes in Sandy's closet that he was able to reach.
Their township had a limit on the height of fences. In later years, Sampson
would jump over the four foot fence and go and bother the neighbor's sheep.
Now, these weren't normal, run of the mill sheep. These were rare, tiny,
"cutsie" sheep the guy bought so that they could graze in the pastoral setting
of his rather hoity-toity gentleman's farm and he could enjoy looking at
them. Sampson would gleefully make them run and run and some would eventually
drop over dead before Sampson ran out of steam. Sandy would go and get her
dog, but never without her checkbook to pay for the dead (expensive!) sheep.
Boy, do they love that dog. He's older now and not doing so well and I know
she'd give anything, even pay for a bunch of dead sheep to have another
year:(
