[ SHOWGSD-L ] Re: Memorable K-9 Stories

Some years ago I was living in a rural part of the country, and I had
a German bloodline bitch named Sheila. She was big, about 25.5" and
85#, and very protective of her "turf." One day I came home from
wprk and found the UPS truck in the driveway. I figured the guy had
brought the new chiops for my computer. As I got out of the car I
heard a terror-stricken voice wailing, "Thank God you found me!!"
I found the UPS driver backed up against the front door, with Sheila
lying about 2 feet in front of him, all but daring him to move. I
immediately recalled her and down-stayed her. The driver's next
words were, "Don't let her get me." I assured him she wouldn't. The
he said "Can I use your phone? And your Bathroom?"
Apparently my ex had ignored my instructions to open the top half of
the window in the bedroom and leave the bottom closed, so that Sheila
wouldn't go through the screen after a squirrel, or whatever. The
UPS guy had rung the bell, and Sheila went through the screen, around
to the front porch, and held him there for 3 HOURS!! She hadn't
bitten or attacked, , just laid down about 2' in front of him, the
way she was when I got home, and every time he moved the slightest
bit, she stood, growled, and showed her teeth. Sure messed up his
day!!
