I really think that Carolyn is absolutely correct. It is easier to send
customer's dogs/cats/ horses/birds/ etc to Europe than to some cities in the
US. All hubs are sending out smaller commuter jets to their secondary
cities. Caravanning may become routine and people from the same State going
together to help drive long distances may be the answer if flying is out.
Helps split the cost of gas also. Perhaps people who would have to go it
alone on long distance driving could contact other GS exhibitors in their
State and plan on going together.
Notifying rental car companies that more vans than usual are needed may be
helpful. As stated last year, looks like we had better be resigned to
driving up to 3 or more hours AFTER arrival at a large airport. Makes me
wonder where the Irish Wolfhound people hold their National specialty.

Southwest has never taken dogs. Neither does Ameri West.....and now we
have lost
another major airline that took dogs that would have been good for North
Carolina...I
think it was USAir.....below is the major airlines out of ALL airports that
take dogs. I'm
not sure about JET BLUE.....but we don't have it....those are pretty much
IT.....and since
they are downsizing their connecting flights in size and numbers......the
days of expecting
the National to rotate to our back yards are over.......

Main Hubs for DELTA are Salt Lake City, Utah, and Atlanta Ga.
For UNITED it's Chicago O'HARE and Denver, Colorado.
For AMERICAN it is Dallas / Ft. Worth. Texas
For ALASKAN / HORIZON it is Seattle, Wa.
For FRONTIER & NORTHWEST it is Minn. St. Paul.
For CONTINENTAL it is Houston, Texas........but they charge full fare
for dogs and you still
have to run the dog to cargo flying with you!!
AMERICAN is good about some other direct flights occasionally w/o
Dallas Ft. Worth.
but only out of MAJOR airports like LAX, or La Guardia or Seattle,
etc. Not many.
