Morgan,
I am so sorry you do not think there are many capable people running for the
Board. I look at the list of those running and with just 5 or 6 of them I
can count more than 250 years of collective experience. Here are people
that have spent years in the trenches, breeding, competing, and struggling
to make the breed better. Some struggled with financial hardships and did
without other worldly items just to stay 'in the breed'. I know I did.
Whenever there are this many people gathered together as 'members' of an
organization or social club there will be differences. Period.
Take a look at our great country, we have the Democrats, Republicans, and
Independents, they are rarely on the same page and yet our Great Country has
survived years of turmoil, wars, depressions, recessions etc. I know, one
would rather not have 'TURMOIL' in a social club, it's supposed to be fun!!!
But human nature, is human nature and there will be differences of opinion,
bound to be. Good judges don't always point to the same dog or bitch
either.
Campaign for what you want, vote for whom you want, I think you should run
for the Board next year. Ask members who have the same convictions you have
to also run. Put your platform out there, let members know what YOU SUPPORT
and will work for.
I was asked to represent the GSDCA at the AKC Parent Club Conference in
Raleigh this year. There was a session offered in which representatives from
various breed clubs were invited to address some of the issues facing their
clubs. THE NUMBER ONE ISSUE addressed was DISCORD WITHIN THE
MEMBERSHIP.!!!!!! HOW ABOUT THEM APPLES!! Some board members of other
breed clubs were beside themselves with some of the goings on among the
members. Finger pointing, gossip, accusations without proof, assumptions,
YOU NAME IT THEY ALL HAD IT. And you know what, other sessions of vital
interest were being offered at the same time but the session addressing
internal club problems was THE room THAT WAS STANDING ROOM ONLY. Mike
Liosis (sp - sorry Mike) tells us he spends more time and energy on internal
problems than all the other problems put together.
So Mike, please run for the Board, bring your expertise & problem solving
ideas WE NEED YOU.

That would be a valid statement if we had more capable people running. Only
10 people running for the Board, There were 3 more but their petitions
dissappeared.
I know several others that refused to be nominated because of the
infighting; they simply don't want the hassle and I honestly don't blame
them. The BREED will always be here, but the GSDCA may not be.!!

I am in total agree with you and Carolyn. If you truly love this breed, you
will not leave because of the board. The board can be changed by you the
member, vote!

ould or would cause you to leave it. perhaps that would be a good excuse
o leave, but certainly not a reason. for many of us, the german shepherd
