The Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association (ISVMA), the state
veterinary professional association, has come out  against Illinois HB
198, "Chloe's Bill", and its companion bill, IL SB 0053.  The Executive
Director of the ISVMA, Peter Webber, is urging Illinois dog owners to
contact their State legislators and to tell them that they OPPOSE this
bill.
Since HSUS and ASPCA, who support HB 198/SB 0053, have been
attempting to gather support by being so untruthful about what this bill
actually contains, it is important that each and every dog owner in
Illinois contact their elected officials to tell these elected
representatives that they are strongly opposed to the bill. Numbers
count!
If anyone doesn't know their who their legislators are, they can go to

Hello,

This morning I spent 40 minutes speaking with the Executive Director of the
ISVMA Peter Webber. IVSMA is officially on the record as opposing HB198 and
SB0053. He told me that he has been in contact with several legislators and
they have
rec'd between 75-100 emails from HSUS and ASPCA members in support of the
bills.

Mr. Webber said it is vitally important that WE ALL write our
legislators......every one of us, and to make sure everyone we know in the
dog community does the same. That is the way we are going to get this
stopped. We have to have more voices
than HSUS and ASPCA.

Even if the email, fax, etc is only two sentences...please contact your
officials. Then just for fun contact a few more....or better yet, contact
them all.

We need to speak loudly and with one voice!

If anyone needs sample letters or talking points, there are several posted
on this list.

Permission to crosspost far and wide!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please take the time to do your part and them let 10 more of your doggy
friends know about this important issue.
