NO, NO, NO, NO..... It wouldn't matter a hill of beans if Hunte Corp went
out of business tomorrow.

by animal rights leaders whose priority is neither the humane care of
animals nor the prevention of cruelty to animals, but instead, the promotion
of a revolutionary value system which redefines man's relationship with
other animals. Animal rightists want to end man's use of animals
altogether."
Those words were written by Patti Strand FOURTEEN years ago. Long before
Andrew Hunte was a gleam in their eye.
Fourteen plus years later things have gone from bad to worse... largely with
the ARista's duping the general public AND the dog fancy itself into doing
their work for them.
Only 25% of shelter animals (nationwide, some areas will vary) are purebred.
That means that 75% are MUTTS. Anyone that breeds purebreds is not
responsible for the mutts in the shelter.
The problem is NOT too much breeding (purebred or otherwise), the problem is
people are lazy and unfortunately "pets" have become a disposible item.
Can't be bothered to train the dog, dump it at the pound. Or in many areas
people don't even bother to CONFINE their pets.
I can guarantee you that if you stopped all purebred breeding tomorrow the
problem would not go away, and the aristas would NOT be happy.
The best we can do is to continue to educate people about RESPONSIBLE pet
ownership, regardless of breed or where the dog came from. The worst we can
do is to give up our rights to appease the aristas.
Ridding the club of Mr Hunte is one thing, and I am definitely for it (if
for no other reason than he is a totally disrupting presence).
Stopping "puppy mills" is another whole kettle of fish. We have enough laws
on the books now regarding standards of care. We do not need any more. Any
"licensing" or "limit" law is going to effect US long before it does
anything to the high volumne breeders (who are already covered by the AWA).
Has anyone here read the proposed legislation in Sacramento? I posted it to
the list several days ago. Are you aware that, even WITH a $50 "intact"
animal permit you will not be allowed to breed that animal?

Paul,
Thank you for clarifying the Raleef Situation so quickly.
However with Mr. Hunte filling the market place with all these puppies,
don't you think that he is a very big reason that we have so many ARO's
coming
down on us? If Hunte didn't flood the market place with all these puppies,
then there would be less puppies/dogs in shelters, less dogs/puppies being
put
down needlessly. Hunte is "one" of the reasons that the ARO's are
thriving.
