This job is usually done by the Futurity/Maturity Chair or someone who
has agreed to help out the Chairperson.

1. Make a list of every single trophy that needs a donation. Include
columns for the class, for each trophy in the class, the name(s) of the
people that donated to that trophy, and how the trophy was
donated--cash, check, whatever. Put the list on a clipboard, along with
an envelope to hold checks and cash.

2. Go to a local specialty show (it may take two). Walk around the show
grounds approaching people, (wait til they are finished doubling--:-))
telling them you are collecting trophy donations for the "Pacific
Southwest (for example) Futurity/Maturity." Tell people that you can
accept pledges. They don't have to pay today. German Shepherd people
are incredibly honest--they almost always pay up. (The few that don't
are indelibly branded in my brain!) If you get a pledge for a donation,
be sure to get a phone number and/or e-mail address. Remind folks that
if their donation is received by (I think it is March 1st--but you also
need time to get the list into Rau, Tish can tell you) their name will
appear in the catalog for the Futurity/Maturity for that region.

3. Keep a record of who has paid and how they paid--check number, cash,
etc. Send your donations to Tish on a "flow" basis. Send your list of
donators to Rau by the due date.

4. Send an e-mail reminder or call people who pledged amounts about two
weeks before you need to send the list into Rau.

5. There may be a few who don't get their money in til later, but they
always do. :-) (German Shepherd people are wonderful!!)

6. There are some people on this list who always donate for their own
regional Futurity/Maturity as well as another region. (German Shepherd
people are wonderful!!)

7. There are some people that have offered to pay for the pledge of
folks who have suffered great tragedy after they made their pledge.
(German Shepherd people are wonderful!!)

I do not see myself as a person that is good at doing this, but, you
know, I have done it for two Futurities and I think it has helped the
clubs tremendously. Another thing, one year I was fairly new in the
area. A person who lived in the area for a long time went over my list
of people that had donated trophies and personally called people I did
not know, that I had missed. This helped a lot.

Hope this helps.
