[ SHOWGSD-L ] Get A Better Dog

After reading the post about the person who showed her German bitch at a all
breed show and was told to get a better dog by the judge. Let me just say I'm
not so sure it was a bad thing for the judge to do this. It would how ever
matter how this was said by the judge. Some people have better tact than
others. But at least it gave the person something to think about. I am sure all
of us have a not so fond memory of a dog show experience either in the ring or
on the out side.
I think this is how we learn just what the game is all about. Things like this
have taught me to play the game better and to be competitive. You see I would
not take my ball and just go home. I would come back with a better dog.
I remember asking a judge why she put up a class dog over my German Pinscher
special. Now mind you the dog that beat my dog from the classes looked like he
needed a meal. You could see his ribs and hip bones. And I have lost to class
dogs before but never to such a poor specimen. Well the judge told me that the
class dog behaved himself much better for his exam. And a special should act
like a special. And while I do agree that my dog was not on his best behavior I
thought this was about breeding stock.
So what did I do? I took my dog and trained him to stand still for his exam.
