  This is Muncie/Delaware County Indiana - the issue at this point is
  privatization of city/county animal control by a newly formed group
  (with no experience or ties to the dog/animal world) who are trying
  to pass ordinances which would impose big licensing fees, permit fees
  and inflated fines on *dog owners* only. One ordinance would give the
  Animal control officer "in fresh pursuit" of an animal the right to
  enter real/private property (as in your house, yard, etc) without
notification,
  permission, or even knocking .... also gives them authority to conduct
  inspections of any business, animal establishment, stable, etc on a 24/7
basis
  without prior notice ...
  There is also a provision for a $1,000.00 fine for interference with
  an animal control officer.

  The current status is that a COUNTY OPTION DOG TAX must be passed by
  the county council before any privatization and imposition of fines can
  take place ...

  Both councils - City and County - have been very responsive to us and
  our concerns, and they do respond well to polite, reasoned opinions from
  out of town and out of state ... we'd like for the county council to vote
to
  defeat the county option dog tax - best scenario.

  Help us if you can:

  The next county council meeting is July 28, 2009 at 9:00AM and this
  is the body which will vote on the dog tax ... if you only have time
  for one set of "contact making" this is the group to call, mail or
  email.

  They are responsive to **polite and informed** requests to vote against
the
  COUNTY OPTION DOG TAX.
