Hey guys! This has to be the funniest subject line we have had in months. Everyone, judges included, has bad days...but when a judge has them repeatedly, has to cancel assignments for months on end, or starts the day and can't finish due to ill health, if that judge doesn't move to Emeritus status (retire and stay on as a consultant), the AKC has to do it for him or her. It's unpleasant, but a fact. As for having the same thing happen in the workplace, I've worked with people who were lucky to have some place to go during the day, and who did not much more than take up space...they were allowed to stay on until they reached the age of retirement...but never with any who were forced out while still able to contribute, altho I'm sure that happens. My biggest concern is that the AKC does seem to be paying attention to the wrong end of the ladder...yes, some of these people should not be judging...but the beginning rungs are full of incompetents, too, and the AKC seems to push them along instead of out....there is no equity in the dog world. We have been saying for years that everyone is equal, but some are more equal than others. I guess that's just life. We don't have to like it, just get through it.
