Thanks Dave......it's clear to me that a select few want to take control (
again) over this club....it's a power play....plain and simple....the good of
the club and the advancement of the German Shepherd Dog is getting lost...I
won't lose any sleep no matter who takes "control" over this club.....we get
what we deserve...or should I say we get who we vote for , term limits would
help correct some of these issues ...Ed Hill

We all vote, or should, for the board members we send to Washington, or is
it Chicago, Dallas, or ?????
We expect them to represent us and to communicate with us, both to us and
from us to the assembled board. When the board cannot be assembled by
whatever means, we have an executive committee to make decision, to be later
affirmed by the entire board, or not, as the case may be. The executive
committee serves the board. For any member of the board or sub-committee or
group of the board to presume that they are more capable, more accurate or
more official than any board member, seems 'slightly' arrogant and demeans
the members we send to that governing body and also denigrates our vote for
them. They are all equal in position and responsibility, even if different
in personality and opinion.
The presumption that power is held at the top and needs to be evaluated by a
few elite at the top, and communicated delicately, is what the American
Revolution and the French Revolution was all about. Â We, as a nation, have
subscribed to the principle that power is held at the bottom, and delegated
upward, not downward, and that accountability is also from the top to the
bottom. So, communications must be free and open from those in power to the
bosses - we the people. And, yes, that can be messy, where there is no
control, no king and no one person to tell it like they want to see it told.
But, aside from those foundational principles of freedom, I think our boards
have primarily negotiated communications quite well. From the incident that
Carolyn mentioned, as an exception, which 'got told anyway', to our current
discussions in which the board has listened and reversed some unpopular
decisions and has agreed to revisit others. I agree with Carolyn, most of
the time in fact, and on this I think we all fundamentally agree. When there
is a problem with our communications, we seem to rise up and smack our
leaders around, even when they don't need it. That is part of the messiness
of freedom.
So, board, forgive us our jumping to conclusions that are premature and
without justification from time to time, and know that if arrogance raises
its ugly head in our club, the fearless nature of this breed will make
adjustments to it. We have elected some great people and they pay a high
price for serving us, particularly when we affirm, - 'we ain't got no king!'
