Carolyns point is great. While I don't have a problem with the "one
voice" for constant contact etc or an official voice, it IS important to be
able
to hear each and every board members opinion on matters. Of course they
will not all agree...we never intended to vote in clone's of one another I
don't think.. Each member brings something to the table. I recall a few
years back 2 board members having quite a disagreement on the break from the
meeting....1 board member wanted basically everybody to follow the leader,
the other had their own opinion and wanted it respected. This is not about
solidarity, it is getting good minds together to allow this club to go
forward, and differences of opinion to me mean progress.
If the purpose is to form a single minded pack then I guess we only need a
few people on that board. I have sent a few requests to the board recently
to ask opinions, the first time a little over 50% answered, the last time
less than 30%.
The board must remember....when the dust falls, they are and will always be
answerable to the membership.
