Peggy http://www.state.nj.us/agriculture/divisions/ah/pdf/CanineinfluenzaJune09.pdf A friend in another breed in Hunterdon County NJ has several cases this weekend, possibly brought in by visiting pet dog. The dog that came in from the show circuit is as yet still fine, but other young dogs have gone from fine one day to the next day having high fevers (105.5 F) and one has probably pneumonia per x-ray. Vets are supporting with fluids and both amoxicillin and doxycycline to combat secondary infections. Note from above link that any possible cases MUST be reported to the state, and testing through the state is much cheaper than some of the old sources. As these were the first cases her vet has seen, these facts were new to the vet, who was concentrating on the main thing: saving the dogs. ============================================================================ POST is Copyrighted 2008.
