Years ago Rhini went to stay at my BFF Patti's home in Rifle CO. Now Patti
lived way back in the mountains that surround Rifle. She at the time had
sledding dogs that were in her kennel. Well Patti was laid up due to surgery
and Rhini was asleep beside her on the bed, when the door flew open and a
colleague of her husband's walked in. Rhini shot straight up, hackles raised
and put herself between this guy and Patti. Growled like no tomorrow and
started to lunge at this guy, Patti caught her mid lunge and told this guy to
go downstairs till she could get Rhini calmed down. The guy was just seeing if
she needed anything but Rhini did not know him, and was not about to let
anything happen to her friend. Quite a few years before that i was traveling to
Grand Junction from Denver with Rhini who was 10 months and our brand new son.
I stopped in a little town to use the facilities and get a drink, I left the
car running and locked the doors with my valet key. When i came out of
the store there was a women walking away from my car and Rhini barking her
head off in the front seat. The police said that Rhini probably saved my son
from being kidnapped. That this women had tried to steal a baby from the
hospital and they were looking for her. Rhini thought that baby was hers from
the day we brought him home so always felt very secure when she was watching
him.
