[ SHOWGSD-L ] Definition of an "ARista"?

Stormy had posted an article about Tammy Grimes from www.dogsdeservebetter.com
At the top of her post she cited Ms Grimes as an "ARista".
Has anyone read the mandate of Dogs Deserve Better? The group is only concerned
with chained dogs. That's their 100% focus. They do not nor ever have varied
from that mandate. They are not running around being anti-breeding.....what
they are doing is trying to educate about the plight of dogs that are
chained/tied/tethered 24-7-365.
Is there anyone on this list that thinks that chaining dogs 24-7-365 is okay? I
would hope not.
To me, animal "rights" are simple. Feed them good decent food daily, supply
them with fresh water daily, keep their food dishes clean, house them properly,
show them they are loved and stimulate their brains. If dogs are kenneled I
have no problem with that. BUT, you must recognize them as sentient
creatures.....they feel loss, pain, anguish, stress, joy, happiness and love.
As the animal in charge, the human animal should at the very least be kind to
the ones we tend to.
What is your definition of an "ARista"? My personal definition are groups like
PETA. While they do do some good, their mandate is ridiculous.
And who the heck made up the word "ARista" anyway?? I am supposing the AR means
animal rights, but does the ista mean anything? Or is it a word that people who
don't agree with you call you?
