In the unfinished basement, where I have a couple of crates, I use one of those Country Vet automatic sprayers and pick a fragrance that goes w/ the season. One canister lasts a month and I think they are $5. The only time I can smell anything where the dogs are in the house is if we've had rain for a few days. For that, I love the Old Virginia or Lang wax melters (stronger scent than candles and no soot....plus you only have a little tea light burning in a ceramic thing so if you forget to blow it out, it goes out by itself. Of course, where the dogs are is all tile and hardwood, and that gets cleaned w/ the hoover floor scrubber w/ pine sol in the water, and the sofas are leather, and that smells like...well...leather. I think carpet holds odors more...
