There were many of us who wanted the club ran more like a business and in
business you have customers. You work very hard in business to please the
customers you have and try to attract  new ones. The term works for me :0)
Make me want MORE!!!!!!

Well I guess if all of us "customers" took our "business" elsewhere and no
longer shopped at the GSDCA, then the "board" would go out of business.
A board of anything is supposed to be the representation of the membership, not
a group of people controlling for self satisfaction. (Nothing implied by that
statement other than the comment.) If you don't listen to your members and try
to represent the membership ... then why are you there?
Even at a store / customer level, if you don't provide what the customers want
... they go some place else.
Many times on this list the question comes up about how to attract new members,
how to keep the old members, but does one really listen to the suggestions or
do
you really care?

Members. If anything else, Constituents not customers. But then I do not
believe
most of the board really represents me so constituent may not be right. I
assume
they are using 'customer" to represent the fact that we can take our money and
leave and they have to work hard to retain us.�
But it actually means little what they call us - how they represent us matters.
As I was told by a board member many years ago, "what does the membership have
to do with it?" when talking about policy decisions. That caused me to quit the
first time.

During the last Board Meeting, a couple of the Board members kept referring to
us PC members as 'customers.'� I know that AKC refers to their member Clubs
and
the Club members as 'customers' and I understand their rationale, but I don't
think of myself as a Customer of the GSDCA Board.� I think of the Board as a
group of people that are working for the PC Members, and doing their best to do
what the Members would want from them.
Could we discuss this?� (Calmly, please :-).� What is your thought about
what
the relationship is between the Board� and the Members it represents?�
OR maybe I should just go get another cup of tea and forget it?
