It is all pretty much interelated. Structure (deep chested, LONG bodied)
does seem to play a part. As does age, physical and mental condition. I do
think diet/supplementation can also play a part. The MAJORITY of the dogs
that *I* have known that bloated/torsioned were under stress of some sort.
ALL of that can be breeding. We breed for that structure, we breed those
temperaments, we breed the immune susceptibility to bacteria/malabsorption.
And yes... there are some lines that seem more prone to it. And we breed
them.
"We" being generic "we"....
All that said... I lost a six WEEK old Sheltie to bloat/torsion a number of
years ago. So... bottom line.... we are clueless, LOL!

Do other people believe bloat is seen more in the deep chested dogs, the
stressed dogs and ones who come from a genetic background that has this
in their lines? Or do you feel that diet and supplements aren't
