These sacks are the same glands that a skunk uses to spray with. For all
canine it is to leave additional information with the stool. A truely hard
stool that would give all of us hemmeroids is supposed to cause the sacks to
empty with each stool.
I can drain most dogs myself. Be careful what you admit to, I drain a lot of
dogs for some odd reason......<g> sheila

Do any of you know why dogs have anal glands? (Or as someone pointed out,
more correctly called sacs.) What is their purpose besides leaving a very nasty
scent?
I haven't given too much thought to anal glands since the time I was
demonstrating for a newbie on how to express them and got a big squirt in the
face.....but now that we're talking about them, I'm curious.
