[ SHOWGSD-L ] An observation of this past weekend shows

I have been reading the results and brags from this past weekend. One of
the things I noticed was that most of the results and brags from the
Specialty shows did not make majors. On the other hand most of the all breed
brags
were either major wins or major reserve win brags. What gives? Is this the
new trend? Was it the judges? Was it the weather in certain parts of the
country? Are people no longer interested in entering at Specialty Shows? Is
it the difference in the cost? Would be nice to hear from some of the
exhibitors as our Specialty Shows are coming up this month and if we only get a
one or 2 point specialty there is no way we can pay the bills without
going in the hole. If that happens folks you know what is next. It seems
like
the Specialties are just dying on the vine as they say. Even with a 3
point major in a Specialty we are looking at an entry of apx 25 dogs so a
major
does not necessarily mean it pays for itself. With airfares in the $400.00
range to most part of the country it will require an entry of probably at
least 40 to pay all the expenses and not go in the red. Paying for a judges
expenses, ribbons, trophies, showsite, etc is getting more expensive.
Ok how about some opinions on what is going on with the specialty shows.
Very curious here as what to expect in the future.
