Kathy (others, too, ) have have made valid points. In our breed
we have a unique situation not found in any other breed. That is that we
have soooooo many specialty judges. It would be next to impossible to
rule that one not show to a judge who owns a sire or a dam (or co-owns)
of an entry. Would you not show to ______ because you have a son of his GV.?
That would be ludicrous. With all the judges we have out there, we're just
obligated to be honest; it simply boils down to that. Actually, the judge is
in complete charge. I learned a hundred or so years ago from Lang Scarda
simply not to judge in the area where you live and have so many friends
of many years. Works for me and I still have most of the friends. LOL.

It is not against AKC rules. However, if the said progeny were put up
by the judge, and was clearly the best dog or bitch on the day...then what
fallout could the judge or owner of the entry face from others? None , I
would hope.
I think it has to be left up to the individual judges , as to how they
would handle it. Judges that have owned/bred popular stud dogs, might well
lose a substantial part of their entries , if they ruled out progeny. Just
a thought. A complicated question with no clear answers. Whatever happens,
it shouid be the best dog/ bitch at that time....regardless of who owns the
stud dog.
