Hi all I have a (perhaps silly) question to ask. In Australia, we have a Breed Survey done on most of our show dogs when they reach 18mths. To enter your dog in the Breed Survey, they must be hip/elbow x-rayed. A critique is given at the survey, which lists ever part of the dog that is addressed in the standard - especially teeth. My question is - do you have something similar in the States?? Oh yeah - and with all this talk on the list about OFA being made compulsory - in Australia, both parents must be hip/elbow scored (we have the 'A-Z' system) before litters can be registered. This rule applies to a number of 'large breed' dogs, where dysplasia is seen to be a problem. We also have to have the dogs tested for haemophilia. And if we follow the 'Breeder's Code' of the National GSD League, we also have to register our pups before 7 weeks, and have them tattooed at 7 weeks. No registration papers and vaccination certificates, no tattoo.
