This is my region for the Futurity and I did the Futurity entry for my first
litter. I plan on supporting the club by showing. It will not be pretty so
David...I will beat you with humiliating myself!
1. What do people in my region think about offering a temperament test?
2. What do people think in my region about me asking the president of a local
tracking club to offer a free seminar or demo? I know she owns shepherds but
don't believe she is a member of the GSDCA.
3. What do people think about asking a couple of New England Judges/former
judges or longtime breeders (performance and/or conformation) could lead a
discussion session about past bloodlines. I think it would benefit people who
came into the breed from 1980-present to hear about the strengths and
weaknesses of bloodlines as we simply don't know. We can just be sitting in a
circle and everyone can add their opinion as we discuss.
4. Do you want to offer a potluck style lunch?
5. Could we work together to post on social media (I have no accounts so will
need help here) and performance venues (this I can do) and advertise
SPECIFICALLY to non-GSDCA members or members who aren't as active in GSDCA who
own shepherds. We could advertise this event as a WELCOME TO OUR BREED event to
share a fun time with all those that love shepherds. We could charge $10 or $15
to non-members.
6. Could we ask the judge if he/she (sorry I didn't check to see who the judge
is as it's all Greek to me) would be comfortable setting Dogs up in first
through last and giving a brief critique. We don't have THAT many dogs who show
so I don't think it would be ultra time consuming....
My goal is to keep cost down by involving people who will already be there and
not getting to crazy with ideas for this time around.
I am willing to take the lead on this and volunteer to set things up. I enjoyed
volunteering at our Futurity a couple years ago (I didn't do much. I sold
raffle tickets and brought Linda Bankhead a water!!!haha).
I don't want to be all talk. I'm willing to volunteer on this to try to think
out of the box. Anyone willing to help? Any thoughts from the Northeast region?
