Many good ideas here Sarah. Please contact Linda Cocci Lyneagle@xxxxxxx
<mailto:Lyneagle@xxxxxxx> . She is the regional chair for the NE show.
My club here in California had GSDCA approved Judges seminars in conjunction
with the Futurity weekend. This allowed people that wanted to have the
certification receive it somewhere other than the National. Just another
thought.
I wish you much success in all you do with your dogs!

Subject: [ SHOWGSD-L ] Re: 2017 Northeast Futurity Proposal
Thank you SO much, Linda! I reached out to the club hosting the Futurity.
Hoping to get opinions/ideas from Bay State, Central MA, and Southern NH
Clubs...Emily, Susan, Lee? Feel free to send me a private message!
Like most GSDCA members, I don't currently belong to a club myself.
I just feel disconnected from the breed club and feel like I'm not valued if I
don't have an AKC showdog. But, I want to try to change that...I KNOW I am not
alone. I can't tell you how many GSD owners I connect with at all kinds of dog
events and they all say the same thing. Where there is smoke, there is fire.
I truly, truly want to see our club grow. The only way we can do that is to
REINVENT ourselves. To the old guard, I know change is hard. But, we need you
to share your experiences, welcome newbies, and mentor others. You are our
FOUNDATION that we need to build on...and a house united is only as strong as
its foundation.

Wonderful ideas! (including the water ha ha).
Our local club in Georgia did a Temp Test one year and a CGC the next. It was
very profitable. Great turnout.
An education seminar after The Fut/Mat has been very successful in other
Regions and the Education Chair will help you with topics for 2017.
I am happy to help you set up a FB page for your club. I set one up for a local
club and in 2 years time the club grew to 60 plus members. Not just
conformation; this has led to interest in other venues and club revenue such as
CGC, Obedience, Rally, etc.
Fut judges are required to write a critique and submit to within 30 days to the
Chair for publication in The Review. It would depend on the judge if they are
willing to critique ringside.
Golden State GSDC San Jose does a pot lock and it is well received and enjoyed.
I believe they do it every year and it helps draw people.
Also an idea is a puppy extravaganza competition. (not AKC). We drew in
excess of 25 entries 2 years in a row and it was pure fun.
Last but not least; don't forget Live Stream on GSD Facebook Open Forum. Raised
thousands of dollars last year for The Fut/Mat system.
Again; great ideas to promote your club, make money, and have fun.
