I would like to appeal to as many residents as possible regarding the need for
town bylaws in addressing loose dogs. At the moment our animal control officer
is unable to take corrective action due to the lack of said bylaws. It is
illegal in the state of Massachusetts to allow a dog to roam unattended. This
is an unsafe practice that places the animal in danger besides possibly others.
The opportunity for an incident is great with regrettable results. The fact
that our town is small, and on the outskirts should not have a bearing to feel
that rules do not apply to us. We are a part of the system and must follow this
responsible guideline for the safety of our partners besides the courtesy of
our neighbors. Please send me your thought's on this matter in hopes that
together we can bring Savoy in line with the rest of the state. Thank you.
