Hello All! Friday June 6 is National Trails Day and the City of Phoenix Parks Dept. (the friendly rangers of Reach 11 Park fame) are having the Saguaro Astronomy Club present the thrill of stargazing to families attending the event. Set up telescopes at the parking lot on the hill to Governor Hunt's Tomb. Sunset is about 7:40pm and stargazing will run to 10pm or so, so it would be good to set up sometime between 6-7:30pm, the earlier the better. The road up will be closed to traffic (except us) and stargazers will walk up or take a shuttle van. We should be treated to free food and drink from Watermill Express, Subway, or Sweet Tomatoes. Headquarters is Ramada #9. But the location in the park where we will set up is in the parking lot on Hunt's Tomb hill. Identify yourself as Saguaro Astronomy Club after entering the Park. Best route is to come down 51 to Loop 202 and get off on Van Buren. Take the Papago Parkway (Galvin Parkway) north from Van Buren, go east at the first light, then take your first left. Follow this road to a 3-way intersection, then turn right, and follow it to Hunt's Tomb. Have fun and thanks for coming!
