The Repository (aka RNR) is now up and running. It contains 99.9% of
the scans I have - the rest are "problems" I need to massage a bit
before loading them.
As I was uploading the files, I made one change to the structure I
set out in yesterday's email - any newspaper with a masthead of "The"
followed by a single word has had the "The" left in the folder name,
and appears alphabetically under "The". There were only four. I did
this because the single names (Chronicle, Observer etc) didn't work
very well on their own.
Another little job yet to be done is to align the newspaper names we
see on the search results screen and on the lookup request form with
the names in RNR.
I will be removing the old Ryerson Notice Scans folder later tonight,
so please use the RNR for all future access.
The RNR folder in Dropbox (about 70Gb) has two "owners" with update
access - myself and Paul Kean (pauljkean@xxxxxxxxxxxx) - so there
should always be someone available to attend to any problems.
Now - what other scans are out there in people's private caches?
If you have runs of a particular paper which you are happy to include
in RNR, please contact me offlist and I'll set you up with a dropbox
connection to transfer the files.
