Hi David, Spot, average and multi-spot - icons are logical. You can take upto 5 readings for the multi-spot to average from, which you just collect by pressing the grey 'memo' switch to record the reading. There is a 6008 (Professional) manual at http://www.butkus.org/chinon/rollei/rollei_rolleiflex_6008/rolleiflex_60 08.htm which covers the metereing modes on page 17 Or else a thread at http://www.flickr.com/groups/rolleiflex/discuss/72157611252224830/ where a contributor offers to send a PDF copy of the 6008i manual. To John and all other respondents, Thank-you so much! I am embarrassed that I missed this after owning the camera for almost 10 years. I had completely forgotten about the metering mode dial. With my aging eyesight it's easy to miss that knob behind the exposure compensation selector and without the manual I was stumped. New problem: the locating of the meter mode knob begs the question now (since I can't find my manual) what do the different exposure mode designations mean? Once again thanks so much, David -----Original Message----- From: John Wild <jwild@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: rollei_list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sun, 12 Apr 2009 6:14 am Subject: [rollei_list] Re: Rollei 6008i problem Hi David, On my 6008i, the inverted 'L' comes on when the meter mode selection knob on left hand side is fully anticlockwise to the letter 'R'. I do not know off hand what that 'R' stands for but I shall look it up later (although it might be to reset the multi metering mode memory). Just turn the knob to one of the other metering modes. ...If the battery is low the signal is 'bc = a number' if reasonably charged 'bc=full' 0A ...If slide is closed ' SLIde' shows up. Hope it works now. Do you think that the " --L-- message I'm getting pertains to Load--as in the camera doesn't know it's loaded? I thought the message might indicate "Lock" since the shutter does not respond. Either way I'm still stuck. It's a good thought and may have to do with the connections made when the slide is closed Do you have the 6008i manual? I was hoping someone would find that particular viewfinder error message and say "Aha" you merely have to do this. Anyway, thanks for the thought.
