There is only one minor difference. The EVS feature on model 1 is disengaged only by depressing a button on front of the diaphragm dial while turning it. Model 2 allows deactivation of the EVS by turning a central button, indexed by a line across the dial, which when intact, EVS is engaged; broken, it is off. This is a useful upgrade, especially for those who don't like EVS.
