According to what I read about this on the Internet, these are 65
glass plates of the same size Adams used some time prior to a 1937
fire that destroyed about 1/3 of his archive. They are singed around
the edges.

The current owner had a team of experts studying the images for the
last 10 years, and they claim some of the images were taken in the
same places and on some of the same days as other known Adams work.
Adams' grandson says this proves nothing, since there were other
people taking similar pictures back then too.

So, if you were standing next to Ansel Adams with your camera, and
later someone found your negs, I guess an expert could try to make a
case that Adams shot it, eh?

The story they are pushing is that the previous owner of the glass
plates bought them at some sort of salvage place in the early 1940s.
The current owner's team of experts say they think the negs were
brought by Adams to a California university where he taught in the
early 1940s and for some reason he left them there.

As for the detailed printing instructions someone referred to, what
Adams did in 1937 may have been different than what he did in 1977.
Maybe he did have detailed instructions that got separated from these
negs, or maybe they were destroyed in that 1937 fire. Or maybe the
detailed instructions were something that came later in his career.
