Thought so - it's a problem with USB scanners. We have an Epson scanner at
work that is not really supported yny more by current Debian, because Epson
does not update the driver - which you need even for SANE and Vuescan.
Apart from that, I'll second the recommendation for Vuescan. With the pro
version, you get a lifelong upgrade path, too. I bought my license nine
years ago, and still can update!
