Harry Fleenor is putting one on my 3.5E Xenotar, and Bill Maxwell
himself
installed one on my other 3.5E Xenotar. I will probably eventually
have them
put on my other Rolleis. For me, the bottom line was that the
Rolleiflex can
be difficult to focus in dim light. Having a bright screen with a
split
image certainly helps. But you want to put it on a Rollei 2.8E
Planar with a
scratched taking lens [gasp!!!]. I don't know if I'd install one on
a beater
Rollei. If you shoot mostly outdoors, you might be able to do
without. I did
notice that the Maxwell screen makes it easier for me to focus
without the
magnifying lens. I don't know that they are 6x brighter (that seems
downright blinding).

Paul Ebel is working on my 2.8E and I thought perhaps I'd have him
install a
Maxwell screen while he has it. I hear they are phenominal, with
something
like 6x the brightness of the standard Rollei screen.
The bad news, of course, is that they cost $150USD. So, should I
do it?
Are they worth it?
