Eric, et al:

My observations are from using an Omegaflex in '74-75. I had a body, reflex viewer, the 90mm, and the 135mm. I used Panatomic, Plus-X, Tri- X, and Tri-X prof. I mixed my D-76 from scratch, using it 1:1. The papers were Varigam, Brovira, Portriga, for prints, and Azo for contact sheets. All papers were processed in Dektol. Some of the film was also processed in replenished D-25, also made from scratch. Most of my shooting was portraiture, with some product work. The lighting was either spots, or a Calumet generator, an 800 watt unit with a doubling booster for 1600 watts, and available light. The contrast range was somewhat disappointing, especially after having handled a Rollei since I was 8 years old. Sharpness was on par with the Calumet 4x5 lenses of the time, which isn't saying much, but adequate to its tasks. The whites were either flat, or somewhat blown out when the lighting ratios exceeded the limits of the materials. Much in the same way as the EBC Fuji lenses for medium format.

If you had cleaned your lenses, you might have gotten better results... ;-)

I never noticed this clipping of contrast, and I'm a pretty careful
user. I also wouldn't characterize the lenses as "very sharp." The 90
is a well-made tessar-type and a good performer. The 180 is a good
performer, especially for heads, but certainly not very sharp. The 58
and 135 and very well corrected, medium contrast lenses (like most
single-coated glass)...

I had a 'flex, once upon a time. The highlights tend to be washed
out, and the detail in the dark areas drops off fast. Otherwise very
sharp lenses. Their contrast is that of 1960-70's Japanese glass.
It's an image style that one has to have an acquired taste for.
