I can understand lack of shadow detail if a lens is very flarey because flare tends to reduce shadow contrast but I can't understand how the lens could affect the contrast of the highlights unless it had severe spherical aberration. That will reduce overall contrast to some degree but especially highlight contrast. However, spherical also reduces sharpness. I can't dispute that you have observed this but I don't understand what optical mechanism is responsible. -- Richard Knoppow dickburk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Los Angeles, CA, USA --- Rollei List - Post to rollei_list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx - Subscribe at rollei_list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'subscribe' in the subject field OR by logging into www.freelists.org - Unsubscribe at rollei_list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the subject field OR by logging into www.freelists.org - Online, searchable archives are available at //www.freelists.org/archives/rollei_list
