Here is a picture of a reconstruction of the skull of a Neanderthal girl from a skeleton found in Gibraltar. This would date from 30,000 BC and would be among the final wrap-up of her people. I have tried for the better part of a day to share this picture with folks and the only ones who have reacted shrug it off with, "who cares? Homo Sapiens had to win!" List Members often accuse me of being a bloody and blind jerk, and so it may well seem to the lot of you: I am a gearhead and not a picture critic. But this picture really made my universe shift and made me see the Homo Sap relationship with the Neanderthals in a different light. I have black (now grey) hair and dark brown eyes, but we seem to have gotten red hair and blue eyes from the Neanderthals.
