Re lights and organs, etc...I attended a Virgil Fox "Heavy Organ" show in the '70s. He used a big Rodgers touring organ and a team of five or six actual humans backstage who ran the lights and other psychedelic goings-on...looked like something right out of "2001 Space Odyssey." Wonderful, but not in church, thank you. Shall we have red for port chamber and green for Great and Pedal? Shall we have "just follow the bouncing ball/light?" Shall we have consoles that revolve clockwise for hymns in a major key, counterclockwise for minor keys? If a PR300S is OK, why not __________ (fill in the blank)? Taste, common sense, good judgement, and beauty may be in the mind of the beholder, but if most churches don't use such lighting schemes, maybe there are good reasons why they don't. Maybe for every member or potential member of the congregation who likes it and feels it facilitates their worship, there are many more who do not like it at all.
