Quite right Noel, when we dealt with lighting, it had always worked it’s way
backward in the system from the speakers. Even with cable in EMT. It’s mother
nature and you never mess with her!

Norm,
Unfortunately, clouds of EMP can engulf a speaker in the other end of the
church and carry on through the speaker wires, which can act like a huge
antenna…and hit the organ.
Even the earliest digital organs included MOV’s in the power supplies in the
1970’s to help eliminate the problem of transient power surge3s.
I know of only one imported organ that has little or no protection against
surges - and for a viriety of reasons will not name it - but all other
manufacturers of digital organs and digiutal pip organ controls do EVERYTHING
that they can to limit damage and most `power surges are like water off a
duck’s back.
But lightning trumps all, no matter how well designed.
