There never was a console that fit me. I used to be 6'1", have shrunk in my old age to about 5'9" but my legs are just as long as ever, so I always have to raise the bench 2-3" to avoid playing side-saddle. My knees often hit the lower keyboard, even hit pistons if I'm not careful. I don't mind low music racks since I'm so short-waisted, if I can put couplers or stops on pistons (or as I've seen on some organs, the couplers are mixed in with the other stop knobs). I envy Rodgers' famous Black Beauty and similar consoles where the entire keydesk and top half of the console can be raised or lowered, ditto music rack. We have adjustable benches, sometimes adjustable racks, why not adjustable keydesks? I'm nearsighted, too (why DID my good wife marry me?)...so I peered over the top of my glasses unless the rack was too high for that, got bifocals and "Varilux," finally had a pair made just for playing organ, and they work fine IF I can position my head/line of sight just exactly right so everything's in focus...which is more trouble than it's worth, so I don't use the blinkin' things.
