We often follow the rules, choosing Principal 8, then adding the 4',
then the 2' and then the mixture IV....

Free yourself of the tyranny. Choose the Principal 8' and then add the
GT Mixture IV. Then select the Swell Mixture IV and add the SW to GT.

Put on some strong pedal to match and couple the mixtures and all down
there too...now you are on the way to town.

Why do so few stops make such a big sound? The Mixtures consist of
octaves and fifths in higher octaves than the 8', but within its
harmonic series, so suddenly by pulling only three manual stops you are
playing 9 ranks, that is nine pipes for each note your play.

The Roman Numeral states how many pipes are playing for each note played
of the stop.

Cheat a little more, substitute the big open flute 8' on the Great for
the Principal...yet another translucent sound..

Have a happy Sunday!
