The Aliso Viejo bombing is tragic and we all feel badly for the victims of the
bombing. That followed by yet another school shooting (Texas) saddens me even
more deeply. The fact that the suspect in the Aliso Viejo bombing was a rocket
flyer brings it even closer to home for me as well.
All that said, what the media reports about it is not really important (may be
frustrating, but not important). We have a problem in this country that
separates people into "warring factions" and is causing people to get more and
more angry and upset and hopeless. Some of those angry and upset and hopeless
people snap and do horrible, tragic things.
I love ROC and the people in the club because it's a place where we can come
together and enjoy time launching rockets and having fun without all of the
conflict and separation we see in the world around us (when we leave the lake
bed).
I don't know where this came from, but there is a saying that makes a lot of
sense to me . . ."You can't solve a problem on its own level" To me, in this
case, I think that means we can't cure the cause of the problem by focusing on
the thing that happened and the way the media reported on it (again,
frustrating, but unimportant). Maybe if we think about it, there are some
things we can do to get to the underlying cause of these sorts of actions.
I hope we can take what happens on the lakebed and bring it back to the rest of
the world and maybe effect some people positively. Just think about the club
motto . . . Peace, Love & Rockets
