Jim,

I've never had any type of formal training with Voice Over with the
exception of the day I purchased my various Apple products, hence my
ignorance here: I downloaded "pages", but when I access it, it appears
to be a blank tablet without any type of keyboard interface. I'm
obviously missing something major. Is there a tutorial for pages?

These assertions are outrageous!
Some of the below statements are accurate, others are completely
incorrect.
Office for the Mac is not accessible, that is 100% right.

The applications in I-life 11, Pages, Numbers, and others are accessible
and work very well with Voiceover.
Many many individuals are doing college work using Voiceover and Pages.
Precisely formatted documents, headers, footers, footnotes, endnotes,
working with tables, all are very doable.

Those who say otherwise must work for Freedom Scientific!
Either that, or they have had no training in the use of Voiceover and
productivity applications like I-life 11.

I'm telling you, firsthand, and I am not kidding, email, web browsing,
advanced word processing, and many other tasks are possible on the Mac.

I have spoken with and those presentatins I have seen at conferences,
Mac is not totally accessible with Voice Over. For example, Microsoft
Office on the Mac cannot be completely accessed with Voice Over. Forget
PowerPoint and Excel.

forward, but there's a long way to go. Macs are cool, but they are not
productive machines for blind individuals at this point. They are much
better for individuals with learning disabilities or possibly low
vision.
