Exactly, it's basic supply and demand exacerbated by government supplied
/andor government mandated subsidies.

One thing is that if the general population was using our technology, the
price wouldn't cost that much.  This is part of the problem.  The percentage
of blind and low vision people is to low to impact the cost in the market. 
This is why it is so exciting what apple has done.  I am not saying that
apple products are going to be as easy to master, because it is going to be
a whole new platform for both the OS and Vo, but the cost makes it worth it
for me to invest my time in learning it.
