AT&T phones use a SIM card which will transfer account, user, and other info 
when switched from one AT&T phone to another.  So, you would be keeping your 
current phone activated and useable by not removing the card, and when the 
new phone comes, activating it will in involve switching the SIM card to the 
new phone.
