I have heard from some of you regarding the small layout updates. Attached is
the current track plan. Please let me know if there are any suggestions,
questions, or comments.
As a reminder, Kevin has already acquired beautiful red skirting that is
sized to fit this layout plan.
There is a small window to get this done in the next month. I have time to
devote to this before Wally gets the power cart(s) built. The goal will be to
have this operational before 5/12/18.
We are currently sourcing good/used FasTrack for this project. New track
purchases will be kept to an absolute minimum. I just got four 036 manual
switches (2 LH, 2 RH) from the OGR forum for $11.25 ea (delivered). IF the
decision is to not proceed, I'll just keep these for myself. The plan uses a
total of 6 LH/6RH.
After meeting with Peter today, we feel that it will be most prudent to leave
the existing alone and operational. We will build-out 7 new modules and use
the existing 12 (short) legs. The expansion will require 12 new ones. In the
event the large layout is not in use, the longer legs from the big layout can
be used to raise this display.
There will be a 3x6 cart constructed. This will allow us to roll these
modules off of the trailer and into the venue in one trip. The plan is to
accommodate the legs and barriers on the cart as well.
Fifteen 3' long Lexan "universal" barriers will be pre-drilled. They will be
constructed so that any barrier will fit in any position.
Estimated cost will be less than $2K. If you do not agree/approve please let
us know ASAP. I have pending purchases of $232.04 for materials. These funds
will not be committed w/o prior club approval.
