Also in regards to Infocom games, there was recently a release of most of the
source code to the games on Github. There is also an open source ZIL compiler,
which amazingly builds most of the games directly from the original Infocom
source. Not only is it a nostalgic experience, it also allows you to play the
games which are usually only available for a price (although they aren't too
hard to get regardless). So that's certainly another fun thing to do on the Pi,
compile all the old classics and play them with frotz!

The main one for infocom games is "frotz" and it's great. It works
well with screen-readers that handle the terminal well.
I know there are games for linux. But I believe most of them are
GUI. And GUI's and I have a war against each other.
There are a number of other console games. You might enjoy the
"bsdgames" collection which gives a couple standard games such as
cribbage, mille borne, boggle, canfield, hunt-the-wumpus, hangman, a
Star Trek simulator, an air-traffic-control simulator, and a handful
of others. Some of them use a TUI (text user interface) which
requires more screen navigation, but they're all text so you can at
least review the screen as needed.
