Yours wasn't the long post. Mine was LOL.
Thanks for your input. Really appreciate it.
Hello,
Steam is interresting, but, i am afraid, not accessible. I think, there
is no way to play on Steam on linux. But it's a pitty, because for
example Blind legend is good.
Text games aren't bad, but it's a pitty, all are in english and many
games haven't Czech and I have to translate. :d
And how did you think long post? I am trying to write as short as I can.
thanks.
Best regards
Vojta.

Long post. If your not interested in gaming or edbrowse.Probably good to skip this one.
Sorry I ramble at times. And no no sound.
Hello. Actually the games I was referring too were web based.
The legend of the green dragon http://lotgd.netBut I don't know if that works under linux or if it is accessible or not.
and Furry Paws http://furry-paws.com
I believe talk about gaming is allowed as long as it relates to the pi.
I don't play many games with sound.
I keep reading/hearing about steam.
I keep forgetting the client I would recommend for those. Has an odd name.
I generally stay in the command line. Because that is what I prefer.
Games I know can be played are your standard text adventures.
But for those you have inform/zcode and tads.Or with brltty. I believe you have a ton of games to mess with.
I also played around with another system. But it was a while back.
But it also worked under linux.
With speakup working. or fenrir if you like that screen reader.
Both online and off.And GUI's and I have a war against each other.
I know there are games for linux. But I believe most of them are GUI.
So generally the only sound I get is speakup unless I turn it off or kill it
Plus I can never get sound to work politely on my linux machines.
Emacspeak and espeakup speak at the same time lol which is kind of cool. But I can't seem to play audio at the same time as speech.
getting all technical.
But really I am more about your common computer every day stuff more than
I don't think so.
Although I have friends who would say I am a pro in tech stuff.
Sound under linux drives me crazy. It either works or it doesn't.And I don't have the interest or apparently the knowledge to be able to fix any
For me its distracting.
Also generally I don't like games with sound in them anyway.
repository for package info.
A really good source for anything really on linux is the arch linux wiki.
Of course don't exclude the ability to search the whole web.
But when I get stuck I generally will visit the arch wiki or the arch user
Why should I. Things are working just how I like.
I however run raspbian. I thought of installing arch on here. But bleh lol.
edbrowse.
Back to the games I mentioned.
I was trying to say. They are web-based games and they work great with
Edbrowse is an editor/email reader/web browser.the link to continue on with the game once your ready to stop.
I am still trying other web based games.
I believe age of fable works nicely except I haven't figured out how to save
Although I don't understand why as it mostly works with lynx.
Kingdom of loathing doesn't work with edbrowse.
I installed the latest version of edbrowse after removing the raspbianversion.
And some issues I was having are definitely gone or improved. You may want to install it from the git repository and see if that helps.
So if your up to it and use edbrowse.
work with that.
Back to gaming.
Muds are a ton out there. and they all work with a mud client.
I use tintin from tt.sf.net or is it tintin.sf.net
In any case. If your a good scripter I believe you can make sound triggers
But again the sound compatibility seemed to be a challenge.
I know someone did it for alter aeon.
on raspbian.
Not sure why the project disappeared or if it did.
But I currently dabble with 5 or 6 different muds using tintin.
But I don't need sound to enjoy the games.
I know this was a mish mash. But yeah you could technially make anything work
Find what works for you and hunt things down. Try things out.I realized that probably even on arch I would be installing emacspeak by
Back to my thinking of installing arch.
So lol. Just stick with what I have. And edbrowse from source just like I did on raspbian here.
And I would probably instal tintin from source.
So for me its not worth it.to revive them for the command line.
Games.
http://ifarchive.org I believe is a whole bunch of text gaming stuff.
I am considering going through the code on some of those if its open source
Anyone can make or find anything to work for them using the raspberry pi.
I know this wasn't very helpful.
But maybe I helped a bit.
I believe given enough time and desire.
I use it for my gaming machine and email and whatever else I need a computer
I disagree that pi is just for projects.
But hey since I love the command line and programs that work in the commandline this works for me.
I tried to do duktape from git. But that didn't go so well for me for some
One probably wouldn't get as smooth of an experience using the GUI.
Oh back to edbrowse. If anyone tries to install it from git.
You will need the readline-dev package for raspbian and probably debian too.
And I got tidy from git as well just to make things a little more up to date.
Beyond that the README file for edbrowse instllation from source is pretty easy
But I mention you need the readline-dev package.
Foundation.
